Leather and Lucas Ranch

Hit TRX Force Training week 8 FST days 1 and 2 protocols last night then jumped on Mission Cycling group ride today 4 hrs 10 min. An inauspicious step into a dog's warrior's mound occurred during an early nature break. Discovered it while trying to clear what appeared to be a clump of mud stuck in cleat that was inhibiting pedal/cleat interface. Made one of those awesome pro moves, unclipped the suspect shoe while maintaining speed, pulling clump off with hand, putting hand back on bars while clipping in, jumping back into pedaling, grabbing a waterbottle and whoa man my hand smells like. . .

Beautiful day, pic is of where I peeled off and doubled back. Mega bonk followed by insta-cramping in inner thighs (?) At any hint of intensity 1.5 hrs out from hq. Excellent focusing tool/opp to work on body awareness, economy of movement, pacing, mental endurance, and generally working with the little obstacles that can pop up and potentially negatively impact optimal performance.

An outlaw biker at the ranch/turnaround popped his dentures back in after eating and told me, not in a hostile kind of way but rather in more of a local historical perspective angle, that he remembered seeing cyclists get run over by logging trucks on the coastal highway back in the day.

Something like that.
