Pro Cycling Helmet Straps: a Closer Look

Pros wear their helmet straps ultra loose for better ventilation and less facial tension/irritation. They don't seem to lose their helmets in crashes but these straps don't look like they'd keep a baseball cap on your head in a stiff wind.

Doubtlessly this will soon be the dominant helmet strap paradigm for riders of the sort that go all-in for the full pro team kit with matching bike and cap, until now worn in lieu of helmets even on group rides.

Lance overkill reigns on Universal Sports coverage, but at least he's helping modernize pro cycling pr. Some of these pros are so wooden on camera and so poorly spoken that they'd be too lifeless to pass as ventriloquist dummies. Even Lance's teammates at dinner on his video blog look scared shitless while The Man is speaking.

Still a hell of a lot better than the cycling coverage VS diarrheas out all too often.
