Never a shy man, Antonin Scalia’s remarks about the ’04 election (synopsis: get over it, it wasn’t political/y’all/so lick my hairy balls) are sure to send a chill breeze shooting across tail feathers here on the left coast.
But have you ever seen the Scarface poster in the dude’s office?
As much as Scalia’s politics seem to be driven by smugness, ego, intellectual self-absorption and an Are-You-Fucking-Serious? strain of Catholicism that should have died off circa the Inquisition, I find his wit, intellect, and public speaking ability to be impressive. It can be tough to track down audio of Scalia’s ‘public’ addresses where Secret Service rip tape recorders out of people’s hands and destroy film snapped of the dashing dad, but here’s one hot Scalia track if you want to give it a shot.
Scalia’s the kind of demagogue Bill O’Reilly would aspire to be if O’Reilly were smart enough to realize how heavily Scalia outguns him rhetorically and on every other level in addressing the same issues from the same side of the bench as pinstripe Billy.
